This week is the final week of Project one. Our task was to make three animations of our spaces that show it off in the best way possible. So here goes!
So this week we had a few tasks to complete. The first of these was to draw up a 6x6 pattern for 36 different textures that we brainstormed in groups in class, dividing them into group of above, below and in between.

[Below Textures]
[Above Textures]
[In Between Textures]
The next task we had was to put some of our textures into our Sketchup Model. So I guess I should mention at this point that this week I restarted my model. Again. At least I am getting fast at it now??
[My Progress on my model at the early stages of the week... I think my building is turning into a dragon]
The textures I developed and how I used them are seen below:
[Texture One]
[Texture Two]
[Texture Three]
As well as that, we also had to put a scale image of the products into our models, so it is off to Google Warehouse to download an image of a motorbike and of a guy wearing a watch. The point of this is to create a sense of space and scale within the building.

The next thing that we all had to do was to find a video that somehow 'reflects' our building (I am so punny and you don't even know it yet!)
So the main concept behind my stairs for the Rolex team is that the railing along the staircase has a hood over it that, with the fabulous use of engineering (sorry all of you engineers out there), will reflect the watch and the wearers wrist onto the ceiling of the gallery space before the model even arrives into the room. That way everyone will be able to see the watch!
^^Do you get my funny joke now?
So the video that I chose was a science video on mirrors and how they work. Enjoy!

Here is my original studio space that I worked on with the two sets of stairs integrated:
There is a ramp that wraps around the building and goes under and through it for the Hazan Motorworks workshop, and a spiral staircase with a banister that reflects the watch onto the roof of the gallery space.
The ramp in the end actually looked like this: [Ramp to Hazan Motorworks Workshop]
And here are the images of the final stairwell down to the Rolex Workshop

[Section of Gallery space]
[Sections of Hazan Motorworks ramp to workshop]
We also had to draw a section of two other sets of stairs from another section that we originally drew. So I chose this section
The very first task we were assigned to do was to draw up 18 sections based on two sets of the verbs, adjectives and nouns that we came up with in Task one. Words: Mechanism, Moving, Sleek, Circular, Ticking, Masculine
[My 18 Sections]
Then, we had to pick just one of our sections and draw model it on Google Sketchup....
[Section that I chose]
...And take two screen shots to prove that we actually did the work:
[Screen shot One]
[Screen shot two]
Then we had to list out the material properties of our spaces:
[Material Properties of top space]
Roof - Granite
Base - Copper
Donut - Steel and vegetation
Water feature running through
[Material Qualities of bottom space]
Tubes - Steel and coloured concrete
Orbs - Coloured concrete
Datum - Grass and glass panels
At the time I wrote some super inspirational quote about how "this is such a great learning experience!" and "How amazing it is to be able to use Sketchup a bit now"
^^Oh, how naive I was then! So full of optimism and hope!
Little did I know at the time that I would go on to redo this model again...
[Second Model]
And even change the section I was modelling to create a third model...
[New Section]
[Final Model]
And after all that FINALLY (finally!) make it out on the other side with a complete model!
